Arelys Martínez, FNP, is a Family Nurse Practitioner with more than a decade of medical experience across primary, pediatric, and women’s care. Fluent in English and Spanish, she treats every patient with the same respect and dignity she would want for herself, aiming to make them feel heard and understood.
Education and experience:
- More than 15 years of experience in medicine, including as a physician in Cuba and Venezuela and, more recently, as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
- Earned her Master of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner from South University, Atlanta.
- Earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Sacred Heart, San Juan, Puerto Rico.
- Earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical Science University in Pinar del Río, Cuba, and completed her residency in pediatrics at Pepe Portilla Pediatric Hospital, also in Pinar del Río.
- Served as a Nurse Care Manager for several Wellmed clinics in the Houston area, coordinating care for high-risk patients and helping manage acute and chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, and cancer.
- Practiced medicine in Cuba and Venezuela, caring for children, pregnant women, and adults in general, including as Medical Director of an Intensive Care Unit in Barinas, Venezuela.
Arelys finds her greatest reward in helping patients feel better, advocating holistic approaches that consider emotional well-being alongside physical health concerns. At Suvida, she values being
part of a team that prioritizes listening to every patient without rushing them. Outside of work, she loves spending time with her kids and family, traveling, watching TV, and listening to audiobooks.
