Austin Pittman
CEO
Austin Pittman is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Suvida Healthcare, a neighborhood-centric, senior-focused primary care organization. Founding Suvida after holding several national executive roles across the healthcare ecosystem, Austin was compelled to build a company from the ground up that focused on improving the quality of lives of those it served, one person at a time.
Prior to founding Suvida, Austin Pittman served as CEO of OptumCare, a $27B UnitedHealth Group company that provides information and technology-enabled health care services. and care delivery. In this role, he was accountable for a $27 billion business, the largest ambulatory care and physician organization in U.S. He came into this role after serving as CEO at United HealthCare Community & State, where he led one of the largest Medicaid platforms in the country. In this role, he redesigned clinical programs to focus on communities, specific populations and individual people resulting in market leading growth and financial performance.
His proven leadership philosophy has driven multiple organizations to financial success and sustainable market growth. During his tenure at United HealthCare Community & State, he led an overhaul of clinical programs that centered community as the primary focus.
Austin thrives on solving tough business and societal challenges. His ability to recognize opportunities for marketplace disruption early, distill that intuition into a vision, and invest in developing a team and organization to realize that vision has led to significant professional success, As a demonstrated leader of others, he defines success not only as positively impacting the healthcare industry but also the lives of his team and those they serve. With his incredible track record and leadership philosophy, he will continue to drive the team towards achieving Suvida’s vision of improving the quality of life for individuals and those that care for them in neighborhoods across America.Austin earned his Master’s of Science in Business and Human Relations from Amberton University, and more recently pursued a second Master’s degree in Healthcare Delivery Science from Dartmouth College. Prior to beginning his healthcare career, Austin served in the United States Marine Corps for 6 years.A multigenerational Texan, Austin can most often be found at his ranch near Lockhart, TX with his four sons and their families, enjoying a cold Blue Norther with Texas’s best barbeque.
Ana Fuentevilla, M.D., M.H.C.D.S.
National Chief Medical Officer
A Latina geriatrician with over 30 years of experience serving culturally diverse and at-risk populations, Dr. Fuentevilla co-founded Suvida because of her personal and professional passion for creating health equity, particularly among the Hispanic community.
Dr. Ana Fuentevilla joined Suvida after a 25-year career with UnitedHealth Group, most recently serving as Chief Medical Officer, Optum Population Health Solutions where she focused on developing and deploying population health programs for healthcare organizations across the globe. Prior, she was the National Chief Medical Officer for UnitedHealth Group’s Community's State plan, and was responsible for delivering health care programs to Medicaid and DSNP beneficiaries across 30 states.
A national healthcare leader and health equity champion, Dr. Fuentevilla values market disruption and innovation, and is determined to drive measurable, differentiated and sustainable change in the standard of care for the Hispanic community by co-founding Suvida.
Dr. Ana Fuentevilla earned her M.D. at the University of Arizona, and holds a Master’s in Healthcare Delivery Science from Dartmouth College.
Her commitment to delivering a better standard of care to historically underserved populations is inspired by her mother, a Cuban refugee to the U.S, who she helps care for today. Ana has four children of her own and instills the same values her mother instilled in her, striving to achieve while always being in service to family and community.
Mark Strickland
Market President, Texas
Mark Strickland is the Market President, Texas for Suvida Healthcare. Joining Suvida shortly after its formation at the beginning of 2022, Strickland has been instrumental in launching Suvida’s initial inaugural neighborhood medical centers, and oversees all operations and market expansion in Texas to ensure every clinic improves the lives of our patients and those that care for them.
With over 10 years of experience operating across Texas, Mark has a proven track record of building and operating de novo clinics as well as developing and leading successful teams. Previously, Mark served as the CEO, Texas for Sanitas Medical Centers, a co-branded care delivery business with Blue Cross Blue Shield that served more than 50,000 ACA patients. In this role, he launched and operated 10 medical centers throughout Texas, building a team of over 150 employees, including 30 physicians.
Prior, he was Vice President of Business Development at VillageMD, overseeing the organic and inorganic expansion of the brand throughout Houston and Texas markets, which included recruiting over 100 physicians. Mark earned a B.A. in Public Health Studies from Johns Hopkins University in 2012. He recently returned to his alma mater to pursue an MBA, which he will complete this Fall.
His penchant for innovation and desire to disrupt the healthcare market to better serve those in need is an asset to Suvida. His leadership earned him the prestigious CEO of the Year award from Harvard Business Journal in 2021.
When he’s not focused on opening and running Suvida clinics across Texas, Mark enjoys Rodeo and Livestock shows, alongside his wife Ashley and their two young boys.
Omar Matuk-Villazon, M.D., M.B.A.
Chief Medical Officer, Texas
With over 20 years of primary care experience, Dr. Matuk has been a pivotal leader in launching Suvida’s Texas market in partnership with regional and national leadership. In his current role, Dr. Matuk is responsible for all clinical activities in the state of Texas, including Suvida’s providers, clinical quality, pharmacy and nutrition services, and in-center wellness activities. Additionally, he has partnered closely with the National Chief Medical Officer to develop Suvida’s culturally-informed clinical care model.
Dr. Matuk’s expertise spans the clinical, academic, and business-oriented areas of healthcare. Prior to joining the Suvida team, he was Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Chief Medical Officer at the University of Houston College of Medicine, overseeing the College of Medicine's clinical enterprise, direct primary care practice, and patient experience model.
Previously, he served in clinical leadership roles at Lone Star Circle of Care and Legacy Community Health, two of the largest Federally Qualified Health Center in Texas. Dr. Matuk champions the importance of value-based care and patient-centered medical models. When practicing medicine, he employs an integrative approach that considers the whole patient, and is also trained in homeopathic care.
Dr. Matuk earned his doctoral degree from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico in Mexico City and demonstrates an ongoing commitment to serving the community in which he grew up and was trained. He continues to visit Mexico City monthly to provide free primary care to populations who are uninsured or underserved.
Additionally, Dr. Omar Matuk earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Rice University, where he currently teaches an Introduction to Value-Based Care course. His entrepreneurial spirit, demonstrated commitment to community health, and passion for providing care that addresses the whole person are instrumental to expanding Suvida’s mission to serve Hispanic senior populations.
Dr. Matuk is a diplomate of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Mexican National Academy of Medicine, as well as an active member of the National Hispanic Medical Association. In his free time, he enjoys swimming and spending time with his wife and their three children.
